🌹🌿We are delighted to congratulate our alumna 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗼𝘃𝘀𝗸𝘆𝘁ė, who has won the competition to become 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗵𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗵é 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆! 🇱🇹 🇮🇹

🌹🌿𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗮 graduated from 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 with a Master’s degree in 2014. Her MA thesis was titled "The Use of Surrealism in the Critique of Power Relations in the Poetry of Elizabeth Bishop".

She has over 15 years of experience in international cultural projects, literature, publishing, and cultural cooperation between Lithuania and Italy.

𝗜𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 with us, 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗮 said: "At the beginning it was really daunting. I started English Studies Masters Programme at Vilnius University nine years after completing BSc in Printing Studies. It was really difficult to start studying again, especially coming from a different background. Challenging assignments and tough deadlines didn't make it easier. However, with a great support from the outstanding teachers and fellow students I was able to progress very fast. For this I will be eternally grateful. [..] I have learned so much about language, literature and culture of the English speaking world and had an array of choices to consider. In other words, I had the decision to choose a path in my own hands and it came with the essential knowledge to make it. I really appreciated that. At the same time I was lucky to work with the best professionals in the field of my interest and delivered the final thesis to my best. I have achieved more than I thought I could.

I am currently based in Oxford and working in the field of publishing as a Rights Sales Executive at Oxford University Press, one of the most prestigious publishers in the world. My work has a strong international aspect and includes participation in the major industry events such as international book fairs in Frankfurt, London and Bologna. In addition, I am exploring a path of a literary translation as a mentee at the Writers' Centre Norwich Emerging Translator Mentorship Programme. This perfectly ties in with my broader interest in promoting Lithuanian literature and culture in the English speaking world. I am really pleased to work with great translators, agents, publishers and other professionals in the literary world. I believe that English Studies Programme was a kind of gate that gave me the access to all these exciting opportunities."
